The holiday is coming towards its end. Went to visit some friends for a couple of days earlier this week. Lots of food and lots of wine was taken. Spending today by the pool,  doing some packing and some cleaning.  Taking a picnic to a candle lit garden this evening.  Tomorrow we will all finish the packing and cleaning. We are going to the local fish restaurant, I think everyone else is going into Sarlat.

Everyone else is leaving at 6 o'clock on Saturday morning in order to get to Calais for the ferry.  We will leave later after handing back the keys to the gite.

We intend to take a couple of days to get to Calais stopping on route to buy more wine.

Friday and the first week is almost over. The weather has been mixed with some really hot days and some violent thunderstorms.  The pool has been a godsend for the children of all ages as it has a cover for rainy times.

It is a bit wet today so we will have a drive round some medieval villages.

We meandered through France calling at montlouis for the fizz -4boxes. We will probably get more on the way back. Had a nice meal in St Cyprien - a fish restaurant. Got into the house - or I should say two houses with a door between. The large pool has a roof that slides back but as it is raining!!!  Today we went into St Cyprien to the Sunday market which is huge.

Spent the afternoon in the pool. Still raining!!!

A late telephone call informed us that our neice, Katy and Mark had a baby girl, Ellie Violet just before midnight on Saturday.

In the South

It is Thursday and we are in The South - Ramsgate to be precise. A largely uneventful trip down via Holme upon Spalding Moor.  Stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Today we head for Dover and the ferry to Calais. Once in France we will meander south avoiding the toll roads until we decide to stop for the night. Don't know exactly where but probably somewhere south of Rouen.

FRANCE 2015

Today is Monday and we have been packing.  On Wednesday we set off on our trip to France (ferry willing).  It is our daughter Claire's 40th!!! in August and so we are going to spend it in a gite with some of her friends and their children - 12 of us all told.

Lynda and I are the advanced party setting off a little earlier than the others. We are meandering to the Dordogne in the Boxster stopping off for a couple of nights on the way.  We will be stopping on the Loire to buy some bottles of Fizz in Montlouis in order to celebrate the birthday.
