Well, nearly all the preparations have been made for our 2016 trip to New Zealand.
Towards the end of January we fly from Heathrow to Los Angeles where we stay for a few nights at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA. The hotel is a classic although some reviews I have seen say the rooms are not to the same standard as the public areas! We will see. It's only for three nights. We hope to get to Hollywood and maybe Santa Monica or Long Beach while we are there.
From LA we fly to Auckland and then on to Christchurch where we stay in a hotel for a couple of nights before picking up a motor-home from Maui.
We will spend February travelling around both the South and North Islands visiting Mount Cook, Milford Sound and Franz Joseph Glacier and hopefully seeing whales and dolphins on route. I have booked a couple of sites - the first night near Mount Cook and another near Milford Sound (as well as a cruise into the Fiord) but we will just take the rest as it comes so we are not committed to a particular route or camp site. The ferry between the islands is booked so we will have to be there for that!
We stay for a couple of nights in Auckland before flying to Hong Kong. We will stay there for a few nights - maybe use the Star Ferry to take a trip to Kowloon and also take a trip up to the Peak to take in the view over Hong Kong , Kowloon and the harbour.
We then fly back to Heathrow in March.
We have organised the trip through the Camping and Caravanning Club. They run escorted tours to New Zealand but we felt that we could just as easily sort ourselves out and have a bit more flexibility which includes the LA and Hong Kong aspects. However Kirsty at Worldwide Motorhoming Holidays (the C&CC's worldwide holiday dept) has met our brief and done all the booking of flights, hotels and ferry etc.

I am hoping to have plenty of WiFi on this trip and to be able to keep this Blog up to date. I have assured a friend I will do so as they may do something similar in the future. However he is an expert at this blogging lark and is rarely without a connected device in his hand! No pressure then!
