We take a short drive up the coast to a historical Mauri site. A defended Peninsula set high above the sea. We watch as a ferry sails into Picton.
We return to the campsite, leave the van and walk into town.
We head for the Edwin Fox museum. This is dedicated to the ship of that name which is the last floating example of a ship used to carry convicts to Australia as well as settlers to New Zealand. The hull is all that remains and is being restored. A very interesting hour or so.
We call into Gusto for a sandwich - it is big enough for a meal.
Back to the site in the rain
Tomorrow we catch the ferry to the North Island - could be choppy.
In an earlier post, did I mention being covered in man eating sandflies? I am now covered in red bites that offer passers-by much reason for comment.
