Hot Beach to Orewa

A short trip to Whitianga to meet Ray on the ferry wharf. We are booked onto his Cave cruises. Only eight of us in a little boat with rubber round its edges. He takes us along the coast pointing out the little coves, including the most famous one,Cathedral Cove, which has a sea arch at one end. We go into a number of sea caves and also see Red Snapper shoals swimming around the boat. We spend over 2 hours out at sea. Another excellent trip.

On returning to dry land we have some chowder for lunch and then head for Orewa Beach just to the North of Auckland. When we hit the outskirts the traffic is at a standstill. We crawl through the city for about two hours before arriving at the campsite .

Looking out to sea from inside a cave.

An Ancient Mariner
