Haast Pass

The time has come to leave Wanaka, but as we leave we call into the Puzzle Corner which is a lot of fun.  A huge 3D maze which we solve in about half an hour but then take another half an hour trying to find the way out! There is also an illusion room full of weird and wonderful illusions. Even the café has puzzles on each table.

Onwards we go past lakes and mountains, waterfalls and blue pools. We stop at one such, where Lynda has to be coaxed over a bouncy suspension bridge. At a second bridge young men are jumping from the bridge into the deep pool below.

We are tuned into tourist radio which is linked to a GPS device. The radio is then interrupted at appropriate times with information.

We call into Haast and do a little shopping and then travel 30 miles to Jackson Bay where we have a meal in old converted railway carriage. Elephant fish and chips for Lynda and a whitebait sandwich and chips for me.

We head back towards Haast and pull in to Holiday Park for the night.
Yet another waterfall!

Seafood by the sea at Jackson Bay (30 miles from nowhere)
